Last nights meeting
I would be interested to know what others thought of last nights meeting. Except for the community turn out I thought it a waste of time and like so many others just left.

Re: Last nights meeting
I think the community turnout was amazing last night, and certainly the best thing to come out of the event. If nothing else, it shows that even on a Sunday night on 10th avenue in a storage building, people are willing to take up the last of their weekend time. It sends a huge message. I've been to meetings where 30 people showed up.
Most of Capul's comments were anticipated, per usual. Debbie's account of what actually happened to her was very powerful, and in the least will help to further motivate community members who were there.
Overall, I would say that the community is talking, motivated, and coming together - which is extremely important.

Re: Last nights meeting
We should not be surprised by the way the meeting was conducted and controlled by the Assemblymember. This anticipation goes to show the divide that exists between them (politicians) and us (their constituents). Due to the unfortunate and avoidable incidents which have happened in our neighborhood, we have their attention.
Now it's our turn to get together as a neighborhood ,and get this patrol off the ground. That can only happen with the total support and involvement of our community. We have the politicians and the precincts attention, now we need our neighbors and neighborhoods help. We can longer afford to rely sole on the 34th precinct or the politician to help us, we have to find it within ourselves and watch over each other.
That's where the ISP comes in.

asf, i agree, and i think ISP has the community support. we just have to keep that up by staying active, recruiting, being visible in the community and hounding our electeds.

Re: Last nights meeting
I was shocked, at the turn out at the meeting. The meeting was called calledon be short short notice & on a Sun Eve.
I am sad that several people in our community have been BUT that was so happy to see all the people at at meeting. Our community has a false sense of security & we need to ALL join together to help each other. INWOOD is INWOOD it not matter wheter you live west or east or Broadway,
