34th Precinct Community Council Meetings Empty 34th Precinct Community Council Meetings

Please be advised that the next Community Council Meeting will be held on Wed Feb 24th at 7 p.m at I.S 143 515 W 182nd St. Please spread the word, that we need a show of force at this meeting, which will further show our local elected officials and the 34th that we are serious about change; change in our neighborhood. That change involves The Inwood Safety Patrol.

Spread the word to everyone you know in the neighborhood about the meeting. One of the reasons for this meeting, Is that the President of the Community Council will formally ask the community to support this endeavor. Which is to say, not only to the Council, not only the the 34th precinct but to the neighborhood, that we recognize and support your Inwood safety Patrol.

We will shortly be posting up a flyer concerning the meeting and encouraging everyone that can come out, to come. The 24th is not a day to stay home. Please come out.

Thank you

Angel

Dear Residents, Business Owners and Friends,

Just a friendly reminder the 34th Precinct Community Council will be meeting next week Wednesday February 24. This month Alianza Dominicana will be hosting our meeting at their Beacon School Site at IS 143 located at 511 West 182 Street between Audubon and Amsterdam Avenue. The meeting will start promptly at 7:00pm since we do have a special Presentation by the Domestic & Other Violence Emergencies (DOVE) program at the New York Presbyterian Hospital.

What is the DOVE Program?
The Domestic and Other Violence Emergencies (DOVE) Program at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University Medical Center provides and orchestrates a comprehensive range of services to address the complicated needs of victims of violence identified throughout our medical campus, and from within the Washington Heights and Inwood communities of Northern Manhattan. The DOVE Program serves victims (ages 12 and up) of physical and sexual assault, domestic violence and elder abuse. The DOVE Program is funded through State Grants (Crime Victim’s Board; Department of Criminal Justice Services; Department of Health) as well as funds provided by private foundations and individual donors.

Haitian Relief Efforts
The New York City Police Department Patrol Borough Manhattan North (PBMN) seeks your input or recommendations on how to assist Haiti after the earthquake that hit early last month. All the Precinct Community Council's in PBMN have made an agreement last week to help Haiti in whatever means possible. The 30th Precinct Community Council has a unique relationship with a Doctor who will be flying out to Haiti to help the wounded and sick. She will try her best to compile a list of possible needed materials whether it be rations, medical supplies and clothing. The 34th Precinct Community Council seeks your assistance in determining the best way to help Haiti after the terrible earthquake. If you have any suggestions or recommendations please feel free to e-mail the Council at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Nightlife Committee
The Committee on nightlife met this week to discuss ways to begin receiving nightlife grievances and gearing up for the Spring and Summer of 2010. Nightlife type grievances applies to only restaurants, bar, lounges and clubs that create a quality of life disturbance in the community. The Nightlife committee seeks to work jointly with the community, business owner(s) and the 34th Precinct to address any type of nightlife grievance.
The Nightlife Committee Chairperson; Mr. Mark Griffin may be contacted by e-mail at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

How You Can Help!
Print out the attached flier and distribute it amongst your neighbors and friends. We highly recommend placing the fliers at the entrance of lobbies and apartment buildings. We strongly discourage anyone posting the fliers on lamp post or telephone booths. Another fun way of getting involved is by joining of the three standing committees of the 34th Precinct Community Council. What better way to serve your community by assisting your local precinct. See you Wednesday!
